I met Roscoe Holcomb in the early 1970's and he became a friend and mentor for the last decade of his life. His singing and playing were other-worldly. This album is a compilation of the three albums released by Folkways during his lifetime. People will either love or hate his music, there was really no way to be noncommittal. Eric Clapton claimed Roscoe was his favorite singer. Me? I was carried away by his music. This is definitely not background stuff!
